WOW – WE WON an Emmy!

Emmy Award: Michael Witt, David Grober
(Michael Witt, David Grober)

Motion Picture Marine was awarded the EMMY for “Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development.” The Perfect Horizon which has been used in dozens of TV shows. David Grober and Michael Witt accepted the award.
The Perfect Horizon has become a fashionable tool because it is small, lightweight and can be used upright, underslung, or in any position. The cameraman operates hands on using a standard fluid head, or you can substitute remote controls with systems like Hot Gears when attached to a PanaHead or ArriHead. The Perfect Horizon can be underslung from a crane arm and carry a number of remote heads and camera packages. When it comes to state-of-the-art stabilization in an easy to use, lightweight package, the Television Academy was impressed. We thank them for the Emmy, it is a great honor!

PERFECT HORIZON used on camera cars for "Spanglish"

The Perfect Horizon is used increasingly on camera cars and road vehicles. Recently released “Spanglish” starring Adam Sandler and directed by James Brooks, used two Perfect Horizons for filming. DP, John Seale used the Perfect Horizon to stabilize cameras for numerous walking and jogging sequences shot on Stone Canyon Road in Bel Air.

GripTrix with Perfect Horizon
(Twice the fun. One Perfect Horizon on the camera car, another on the crane arm)

The Grip Trix vehicle allowed a Perfect Horizon to be mounted on both the front and back of the vehicle simultaneously.

There was also a detachable crane arm on the Grip Trix vehicle. We used the Perfect Horizon underslung with John Seales lightweight remote head.

(Grip Trix electric car: Works great!)

John was very pleased with how the Perfect Horizon allowed quick set-ups with no re-leveling of the camera head.

Other camera crew were Mitch Dubin and Don Duffield.  The grips using the Perfect Horizon included Jack Glenn, Bill Young and Glen Purdy. Grip Trix crew; Shannon Deats and Brian Tencza.
